The 31 Convertible marketed by Silverton in 1991–95 was one of the roomier small flybridge boats of her era as well as being one of the least expensive—key factors in her ultimate sales success. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and with an 11-foot, 8-inch beam this is a notably spacious 31-footer. Originally offered with a mid-cabin interior (with a claustrophobic “stateroom” off the galley extending under the salon), in 1992 Silverton offered the option of a single-stateroom “convertible” interior with a larger galley, but without the mid-cabin’s elevated dinette. The salon, inciden- tally, is very spacious for a boat this size with good headroom and wraparound cabin windows. Both floorplans have an island double berth in the private forward stateroom as well as a separate stall shower in the head. With such generous interior accommodations, it comes as no surprise to find the cockpit of the Silverton 31 is quite small. A transom door was standard, and molded steps at the corners lead to the 31’s notably wide side decks. Bench seating on the fly-bridge will seat as many as five guests.
